TESTIMONIALS:
“Paul is a very nice teacher with a loving heart, and I love, love, love playing bass!” ~Zelda, age 8
“We truly lucked out when we found Paul on the recommendation of another talented musician friend. He is a wonderful, playful, funny, patient, kind, and friendly teacher. He understands kids and works very well with them. My daughter’s mood improves exponentially after they play together for an hour. Paul has been cautious, respectful, and professional with Covid protocols. We have been lucky to have in-person lessons out in our back yard.” ~Zelda’s Mom
“First lesson was amazing…couldn’t be better.” - Richard B.
"Paul is an amazingly sensitive and compassionate teacher and also very progress oriented and able to keep his students both engaged and on track. He's a skilled multi-instrumentalist who is able to quickly learn and teach a diverse range of material and skills in many genres. We are so glad we met Paul, we've been working with him for years, and we highly recommend him." - Andrea B.
“Awesome lesson with Paul. He was patient with me and really established how he is going to teach and was open about his style and also working to get your own unique style and not just imitating him. Excited to be playing again and having Paul as a teacher to work with.” - Nick G.
“Learned a lot the first lesson. Paul is really good.” - Matthew M.
“I listened to John talk about his experience all week, and I watched a few minutes from the background on Wednesday, and I was struck by the extremely high quality of your instruction. It was really cool how you spent time teaching and inspiring the students on so many different aspects of their playing and different perspectives on the larger process of making music.” - Jim M.
“Five stars!” - Jenny C.

I’ll be announcing the release of some new music very soon!
bio
Paul was born to a pianist and a drummer and grew up with piano lessons and baseball practice in bluesy Tuscaloosa, Alabama. During the magical Summer before high school, he picked up the bass and guitar and joined his first band, Forgotten Daze. After countless gigs and an English degree, he committed his life to music and in 2006 moved to San Francisco and joined experimental rock band Antioquia.
In 2013, after performing a thousand concerts, traveling across the country several times, and releasing three studio albums and four live albums of original music, the members of Antioquia decided to stop touring and take time to work on their own projects. Paul released my debut solo album Songs of Love and Loneliness in 2017.
In addition to writing and performing his original music, Paul continues performing and recording bass and guitar with many inspiring musicians and songwriters in the Bay Area, including three-time Grammy Award winner Fantastic Negrito, flamenco guitar virtuoso Jason McGuire, prolific songwriters Heather Normandale and Rachel Lark, Cumbia powerhouse La Misa Negra, and swamp rock impresario Tracorum.
Paul will be releasing his second solo album, Something New Something Blue, this Spring, and performing the new music with a band of Bay Area all-stars.
